Water Offshore
Racing Association, Inc. |
Welcome
Aboard!
Blue
Water Offshore Racing Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit membership organization
founded in 1994 to promote and produce offshore racing on the St. Clair
River; and has been successfully producing races since 1995.
The
corporation has a nine member Executive Board elected from the membership.
Each board member serves for three years. In 2004, Blue Water Offshore
Racing Association, Inc. was granted "public charity" status by the
Internal Revenue Service; and now functions as a tax exempt 501(c)(3)
corporation.
Our
association works throughout the year to raise money for the annual St. Clair
River Classic Offshore Powerboat race. This race is part of the Great Lakes
Silver Cup Series, which is a series of races throughout the Great Lakes.
We
have many fund raising activities with proceeds going to the Port Huron U.S.
Naval Sea Cadets and other community oriented organizations.
The Sea Cadets is a youth program whose objectives are to develop an
interest and skill in basic seamanship and to teach them patriotism, courage,
self - reliance, and kindred virtues. Many of their activities are performed on
retired naval vessel called the "Gray Fox" harbored in Port Huron.
Our
fund raising activities along with the actual race day activities require much
help from volunteers. Any time and/or support you can give during any of these
activities are greatly appreciated. You will receive a monthly newsletter that
will keep you up to date with the latest schedule of events and status of the
race series along with other interesting articles. We have a general member
meeting on the second Thursday of every month. All members along with family and
friends are welcome to attend.
We
hope to see you soon and again thank you for your support!
